Alan on the Issues - Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Securing our borders is a matter of national security. The violence on our southern border threatens the safety and well being of all Americans. Our immigration laws need to be reformed with an emphasis on:

· Securing the border with more border patrol agents and technology.

· Punishing employers who knowingly hire illegals.

· Establishing an earned citizenship program where illegal aliens must learn English, pay back taxes and a fine for entering the country illegally, and pass a criminal background check.

· Working with the Mexican government to elevate the economic conditions of its people including the 50 million Mexicans living on $2 a day, many of whom seek to enter the US illegally to escape poverty.
